Illinois — An Illinois State Trooper responding to a serious multi-vehicle crash on 1-94 was helping a trapped woman escape her wrecked Chevy Impala when another crash nearly turned the rescue into a tragedy. The woman was reportedly trapped inside the vehicle with a jammed seatbelt. The trooper cut the belt and moved toward the passenger side to help pull her from the car. Seconds later, a speeding SUV slammed into the front of the Impala, sending the vehicle spinning around the trooper. Before the scene could even settle, another vehicle crashed into the wreckage, sending the damaged car spinning again. The trooper was standing in the area where the first vehicle struck just moments earlier. He survived the incident with minor injuries.
