ELK GROVE, Calif. – On March 30, 2026, an Amazon delivery driver allegedly assaulted a 71-year-old man at an ARCO gas station in Elk Grove following a dispute over a parking space, according to the victim’s attorney and law enforcement information.
Attorney Tony Buzbee said his client, an auditor of agricultural and animal production facilities, had stopped at the gas station during his workday to use the restroom and purchase a drink.
Buzbee said the delivery driver believed the man had taken a parking space intended for him.
Surveillance video released by Buzbee shows the driver confronting the man inside the store before striking him in the back of the head. The 71-year-old fell to the floor. According to Buzbee, the man suffered a concussion and neck pain and continued receiving medical treatment.
The Elk Grove Police Department arrested the delivery driver.
The reported charges include felony battery, elder abuse and threats.
Amazon said the driver was employed by an independent business that contracts with Amazon to deliver packages. The company said that after reviewing the incident and sharing information with the contractor, the driver was no longer eligible to deliver Amazon packages.
