On July 12, 2026, at approximately 11:03 p.m., Manchester Police Department officers responded to 994 Parker Street after a male caller reported a domestic disturbance. The caller said a family member, later identified as
18-year-old David Cordero, was out of control and smashing items inside the residence. A second 911 call reported that Cordero was armed with a kitchen knife. Dispatch advised officers that the suspect was armed.
Officer Antony Dejulius was the first to arrive. As he exited his cruiser on Parker Street, he saw Cordero chasing a man who was running toward the police vehicle. Dejulius ordered Cordero to stop and fired three shots from his service weapon, striking Cordero in the shoulder.
A preliminary report from the Connecticut Office of the Inspector General stated that no knife was recovered from the area where Cordero was shot. Cordero received immediate medical treatment at the scene and was transported to Hartford Hospital. He was treated and released.
Manchester police charged Cordero with assault in the third degree, criminal trespass in the first degree, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief in the third degree. The charges were pending in Manchester Superior Court. He was released on a promise to appear on Aug. 24, 2026, according to online court records referenced in July 2026 reports.
