at 1:33 a.m., Huber Heights Police Division officers were dispatched to the area of State Route 4 and Chambersburg Rd on the report of a road rage incident. The victim stated the suspect had shot out his window and had rammed his car. The victim was trying to drive away from the suspect when he said the suspect shot at him again. They went to the Shell Gas Station at 8007 State Route 235. As officers arrived in the area, they saw the suspect vehicle leaving the parking lot of the gas station.
They attempted to stop the vehicle and it continued south on SR-235 at a high rate of speed. The vehicle turned onto New Carlisle Pike. Officers attempted a PIT maneuver on the suspect vehicle, but they were unsuccessful. They continued north on New Carlisle Pike where officers saw objects being thrown out of the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle proceeded west on Taylorsville Rd and came to a stop in a grassy area of a residence in the 9400 block of Taylorsville. The suspect exited the driver’s seat and was immediately ordered to the ground by officers. The suspect faced the officers and raise a black AR15-style rifle, pointing it directly at the officers.
The officer closest to the suspect opened fire and struck the suspect. The suspect fled from officers with his rifle still in hand, but turned around and pointed the rifle at the officers multiple times as he ran away. Huber Heights officers chased him on foot until he collapsed on the front porch of that same residence. Officers quickly called for a medic to respond to the scene and began first aid procedures to the suspect until medics arrived.
The suspect was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, where he remains admitted for those injuries.
